Betty’s French Dressing with Summer Salad

Betty demonstrates how to make French Dressing and Summer Salad. This is a tasty dressing over summer garden vegetables.

French Dressing with Summer Salad

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon minced onion
1 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seed
fresh garden vegetables: leaf lettuce (torn), yellow bell peppers (sliced), cucumber (sliced), and cherry tomatoes (whole)

Place the first 5 ingredients in a blender. Blend until combined. Add a small amount of oil and a small amount of vinegar and blend. Repeat this process, alternating the oil and vinegar until it is all incorporated into the mixture. Stir in celery seed. Pour completed salad dressing into a jar with a lid. Screw the lid on tightly. Chill until ready to serve. When ready to serve, shake jar to re-combine oil and vinegar. Pour into a cruet or small pitcher. Serve French Dressing, drizzled over fresh garden vegetables or any tossed salad. Enjoy! –Betty 🙂
