Mango shrikhand matho | Mango yoghurt-sweet curd | INDIAN VEGETARIAN JAIN RECIPE | CHILLED DESSERT

Mango shrikhand or mango matho is an Indian curd or yoghurt based dessert, that is usually served chill. While making shrikhand, you will also get whey water as a by product that is highly nutritious and healthy. This is a protein based dessert. It is usually had along with the main dish in Maharashtra and Gujrat, while is eaten as a dessert in the rest of the country.
Recipe: Take thick curd and strain through a cotton or muslin cloth for 1 – 2 hours. Take the hung curd in a bowl, the strained whey water can be used to knead dough, in curry and gravies. Add 1 cup mango puree in the curd, followed by 2 – 3 tsp of honey or sugar, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder. Mix the contents well. Garnish with saffron and chopped pistachio. Serve chilled.
